I am so excited to get to share some highlights from Shelby + Nick’s wedding this past Saturday! I met Shelby a few months ago, as she asked if I could do a cake smash photoshoot for a family friend instead of engagement photos. I walked into her house and immediately learned one thing about this lady; she loves animals! I had never seen so many pets in one place, it was awesome.
They had the most perfect day. They got married at Poppy Estate Golf Course which was absolutely stunning. Though it was raining, the venue accommodated the day perfectly. One of the things that most struck me in the morning was the fact that literally nothing could get Shelby down – all she focused on was the fact she was going to be marrying her best friend today!
A little bit of foreshadowing into who the ring bearers were 🙂
I always love spending time with the bride in the morning as it means I get to hang out with the ladies that have meant so much to her over the past many years. I found myself photographing not just the morning of the wedding, but pictures that depicted just how much these three ladies love Shelby. Their feet were soaking wet in their flip flops, their hair was getting damp from the trips back and forth, and they were in need of food. But all they focused on was relieving Shelby from any unnecessary stress, and doing anything they could to help make this day perfect. Shelby sure knows how to pick her ladies well! Plus they were so much fun to hang out with – so I was loving my job!
Having been to Shelby’s house before the wedding and gotten a glimpse into her love for animals, these two were simply the most perfect addition into her special day.
Ciaran, my fantastic second shooter, got to hang out with the guys in the morning after they got back from golfing in the rain!
It was about at this point that you could hardly hear what the officiant was saying because the dogs were barking so loud. It was if they were celebrating Nick + Shelby as much as we all were!
Okay so this was hilarious… Shelby wanted to get the photo below – of the groomsmen carrying her. Little did she know, I don’t usually photograph that shot without the following shot – the bridesmaids carrying the groom. So everyone was in for a nice surprise, and as seen in the photos the groom clearly felt safe and secure… 😉
The reception was absolutely stunning. There were heaters keeping everyone cozy, decorations that took your breath away, and enough intimacy to ensure that everyone laughed at the jokes and had a great time!
This was the best – you need to appreciate the effort and determination of one of Shelby’s bridesmaids; Dakota. If you have trouble finding her, she’s the one that literally flew across the crowd, elbows out, hands high, grasping that bouquet like it was her own child. Very well deserved.
Shelby + Nick, it was such a privilege to get to photograph your special day. Here’s to your new, beautiful family – furry friends and all!
