Wedding [Mikayla + Jeremy]

October 13, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

The first time I met Mikayla and Jeremy, Mikayla was leading her horse by a rope, and Jeremy was trying to calm his dog down. Needless to say, any couple who brings their “pets” to their engagement shoot, are already rockstars in my books.

Their wedding day was nothing short of eventful in the most epic and hilarious way. Here were some of the highlights:

1) They forgot the groom for the first look so had to go back to get him.
2) My car broke down on route to the photos and my second shooter had to come save me (PTL for second shooters!)
3) There were 2 huge accidents in Richmond, causing 50 guests all travelling on a bus together from Langley to be held up 2 hours, therefore postponing the ceremony by 2 hours.

All the while, these two were calm and smiling away…seriously rockstars. They were both so chill, easy going, and took time to actually feel the precious moments of the day. Loved every minute!

Wedding [Rebekah + Taylor]

October 11, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

Rebekah and Taylor had a stunning wedding day! From an emotional first look, to meaningful vows, to the most STUNNING decor at their reception, it was wonderful. They were up for literally anything and were so much fun to celebrate all day. They also had a donut wall which made them twice as cool in my books…

Huge congrats to these two!

Wedding [Sidsel + Garett]

October 11, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

Capturing weddings is always such a privilege, but capture a wedding of people who are so close to you feels like a double win. I was so honoured when Sidsel and Garett asked me to be their photographer as they are two people I love so dearly. I got to live with Sidsel for a few years at University, and therefore also had the chance to get to know Garett as they started dating. I don’t know if I have ever seen a couple who gets so beyond excited and happy literally EVERY time they see each other. This was how I knew getting raw emotion out of them in their photos would be a piece of cake. Sidsel had always dreamt of her wedding being at VanDusen Gardens so it was such a blast getting to see that vision come to life.

Cheers to the new couple!

Wedding [Caleb + Michelle]

August 15, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

It was such a priviledge to be part of Caleb and Michelle’s wedding day. There were so many incredible parts from the day, but here were a few of my favourite:

  1. The ladies had mimosas with a champagne called, “Michelle.”
  2. The wedding party was an absolute blast to photograph.
  3. As each of the groomsmen came on stage during the ceremony, they had a personalized handshake with the groom – pretty epic.
  4. There were many pauses during the ceremony to pray and take quiet moments to consider how sacred this day truly is.
  5. There was a traditional tea ceremony at the reception which I always love. I always find this ceremony is such a tangible depiction of honouring and respecting those that are older and wiser than you.
  6. There was a donut cake and a donut bar <drool>
  7. The heartfelt speeches that had us all crying and laughing.
  8. The killer dance moves that the guests showed off.
  9. The sparkler exit that showed their excitement perfectly.
  10. The wonderful couple that was so much fun to celebrate all day!

Congratulations, Caleb and Michelle!

Wedding [Katie + Justen]

August 14, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

Justen and Katie’s wedding day was absolutely beautiful. They shared many special moments together where they took the time to pause and process the moment. Plus, as an added bonus, we got to take photos on a private mountain owned by their neighbours; can it get any better than that? Cheers to your journey ahead, Katie and Justen!

Wedding [Arianna + Seb]

August 14, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

This day was the BEST. Celebrating two great people is always a fantastic time, but these two are genuinely exceptional. Their day was centered so beautifully around their heart for the Lord and wanting to make sure that was first and foremost. When it rained and they ended up signing their registry in the kitchen to stay dry, they weren’t phased at all. They focused on the fact that they were committing their lives to one another in front of everyone. One of my favourite parts was that during their ceremony, they shared why they believed marriage to be such a sacred gift. Hearing their beautifully thought out words was such a blessing and encouragement to all of us.

This is one of my favourite wedding collections as to me, it shows such genuine and authentic emotion. Their smiles are real, not posed; the tears are authentic, not forced; and the spirit of joy that you see all over them is why I know these two are such a power couple. They understand where their joy comes from and are choosing to share that with one another…wow! Huge congrats to you both!

Wedding [Landon + Tamara]

May 29, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

Being a wedding photographer is always quite exciting as you get to meet so many new couples. It’s always so fun going for coffee for the first time as you never know what they are going to be like. Within a few minutes of my first time meeting Landon and Tamara, I knew I had struck gold. Landon was one of the most involved groom’s I had ever worked with; he clearly had a goal of doing as much as he could and taking as much off Tamara’s plate leading up to the wedding in order to love and serve her well. Tamara is one of the most fun-loving, free people who quickly spreads her contagious joy. It’s no surprise then that their wedding day was absolutely beautiful.

Here were some of my favourite parts:

  1. The bride did her own make-up in the morning with a tiny mirror, 100% stress free.
  2. I got to drive with the bride, her mom, and some of her bridesmaids to the church and I couldn’t decide who was more excited for the big day between the bride and her mom. Seriously, she was ecstatic; it was awesome.
  3. The tearful ceremony that felt so real and genuine.
  4. The fact that the first thing the couple did once they were pronounced “married,” was walk over to the cross and kneel down together. They took a moment to pray and soak in the moment. As they stood up, the tears in their eyes made you realize that they really understood just how sacred and profound this day really was.
  5. The killer wedding party; a special shoutout to Ben who rocked the jokes to make the party laugh on demand.
  6. The amazing lighting we had in this beautiful meadow-like forest for the photos.
  7. The heartfelt and meaningful speeches that had you laughing and crying (sometimes at the same time!).
  8. The fact that pizza was served at around 10pm (my kind of wedding).
  9. This may have been one of the best dance parties I had seen at a wedding.
  10. The sparkler exit that had all the guests beaming as they celebrated this beautiful new couple!

Here’s to the beautiful new couple and their many adventures ahead!

Wedding [Natasha + Kyle]

May 21, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

I still remember when I first met Natasha for coffee and she started sharing her love story with Kyle and then talked about the wedding. She then said, “Oh, and we are hoping that you might be willing to fly to Mexico to an all inclusive resort to shoot the wedding….would you be up for this?” It took me about 10 seconds of thinking it over before I said, “UMM…YES!!”

I had the pleasure of travelling with their 40 wedding guests and getting to hang out with them for a few days at the resort. The weather was amazing, and the beaches were stunning, so we all knew that we were in for a killer wedding!

Here were some of my favourite parts:

  1. The bride started her morning by reading notes from each of her bridesmaids.
  2. A mimosa bar was delivered to our room and was beautifully set up for the ladies!
  3. We had the most stunning first look location and there was the perfect amount of wind to get that veil going!
  4. As opposed to torturing ourselves in the insane humidity for two hours worth of photos, we did about 30 minutes and then ran back to the rooms with AC and did the photos later in the evening.
  5. When we got back to the room, all the ladies stripped down and we ran to the buffet to fill our plates and then ate loads of delicious food in the room enjoying the AC prior to the ceremony.
  6. They got married on a beach…need I say more?
  7. The wedding party was a champ as they walked along the beach barefoot to get some great photos.
  8. As we were waiting for the reception, some of the guests went back to the lobby, ordered wings, and then delivered them as appies before the reception – so great!
  9. The reception was an intimate feel with a small group so there were long tables all facing each other. It had such a family feel which was awesome.
  10. The great couple who was such a blast to celebrate!

Cheers to the new happy couple!

Wedding [Jenny + Steve]

May 16, 2018 By MeganBenger Leave a Comment

Jenny and Steve have been such a delight to get to know over this season of working with them. When we first met for coffee, we realized we had so much in common and it made me so excited when they chose to use me as their photographer. Their day was beautifully centred around honouring their family, thanking God for all that He had done for them, and enjoying time with their guests. They totally rocked the rain and were smiling all day long. It was such an honour to celebrate them!
